Electrical Testing & Inspection

Electrical testing and inspection is incredibly important as thousands of fires are started every year from faulty electrical installations, potentially putting an end to your business, your family home, and not to mention the risk to life.

Electrical Services: Support

If you have received confirmation that you have an unsafe system, we can quickly be on site to ensure that we make you safe once more. Having an unsafe system opens the way for a series of liabilities to worry about, including employees, insurance, lease agreements, etc and we have indemnity insurance to cover this type of work. With an unsatisfactory finding, we can find solutions to fix the issues and get electrical systems safely working, giving you total peace of mind. Periodic Inspection and Testing is recommended to be carried out every 3-5 years or at the end/start of a tenancy to ensure all electrical services are up to standard and safe.

Electrical Services: Emergency Lighting

Emergency lighting is an important safety measure. If the power goes off, then finding your way around in the dark can be unpleasant and when you add another emergency to the mix such as a fire, then it could become incredibly frightening. It is vital to ensure that in the event of an emergency, you have the right lighting to illuminate the exit path and Eco Power & Lighting have a superb range of emergency lighting options as part of their electrical services range to suit your premises and budget. Emergency lighting might be broken down into two types, one being the green-coloured emergency lights with in-built signs designed to assist in evacuating a commercial building. These can be maintained or non-maintained. A maintained light is kept switched on and stays on in the event of a power cut, whereas a non-maintained only springs into action in the event of a crisis. These lights benefit from the low-powered, long-lasting properties of LED. You only need a small amount of light, but what we often see is systems that run on batteries fail unless they are regularly tested – and if that emergency arises, they may not work at all. Our range of LED emergency lighting means more life in your lighting as they require far less battery power. If you need to install or upgrade your emergency lighting, Eco Power & Lighting can help.

Lighting & Electrical Design

Ever since starting out in electrical work, lighting has always been a passion of mine. I have created many lighting designs for kitchens, dining rooms and lounges for added impact and ambience; using different levels of dimming with accent lighting, a mood or scene can be created. With some automated control, the scene you require can be saved and recalled at the press of one button, making multiple scenes for different times of day or night, adding character to the room whilst relaxing. Commercially the same applies when it is for a restaurant, reception area or even your office.

The impact of lighting and electrical design is sometimes overlooked, but with imaginative design and an abundance of colours and lighting moods available, we can create a space that offers the wow factor. We can help with designing a system that works for what you need, and we will make informed recommendations to help you get the desired end result.

LED Lighting

LED lights are now a popular choice for lighting in homes and businesses as they use very little energy, last much longer and unlike regular energy-saving bulbs are instantly bright when switched on. Technology has developed rapidly in recent years and the energy savings alone make these a great benefit to any home or commercial operation. LED lighting are without doubt, the most energy-efficient bulbs; they use 90% less energy than traditional incandescents and some can last as long as 25-30 years. Whilst you may think that changing the type of light bulb you use isn’t that complex, it’s actually not as straightforward as it seems as there are a lot of cheaper LED lighting options on the market which don’t live up to expectations in terms of light output, colour, intensity of light and longevity. Our experience and knowledge around the best products on the market is second to none, and we are happy to help with your LED lighting installations.

Submains Distribution

Our expertly qualified and experienced team of electricians can help with any submains distribution solution that you may need for your home and for commercial properties. Electricity is run into a property through the mains cables into a fuse board or through a sub main from one fuse board to power another in a different location. Some installations have a main bus bar chamber then each submain is connected to this bus bar; it is arranged like this so there can be many submains coming from the one supply. This can be done in several ways and Eco Power & Lighting can advise you on the best option available for your premises type. We can advise on how power is distributed to where it is needed, size and length of the cable, how it is run and what type the conductors need to be and carry out installations to the highest standard.

Fuse Boards

It is essential to have the right fuse board for the right cable size which is appropriate for the load connected. There are many different types of fuses for different services and most domestic fuses are type B. This is where the safety devices are all located, and cables are run from this point to the service that you want connected, with different size fuses for different loads. Commercial fuses have type B, C and D and these variations are to get different fuse fault curves. Eco Power & Lighting can design, install and maintain fuse boards that give you the safest option around electricity currents reducing any unwanted issues and constant tripping of switches.

Electrical Fault Finding & Maintenance

Electrical fault finding is a task that requires considerable knowledge and skill. Sometimes it can be easy to identify where the fault is, and conversely it can take hours of investigation. Most types of electrical fault such as nuisance tripping, blown fuses or fuse board problems, tripped RCDs, lighting and power faults can be investigated, identified and repaired by our expert team of electricians quickly and efficiently. It is the aim of our team to never leave you without lighting or power and to get you up and running again as soon as we can. If no obvious faults are initially detected, we will carry out an in-depth electrical fault-finding test followed by any remedial work needed.

PAT Testing

Portable appliance testing (PAT) is the examination of electrical appliances and equipment to ensure they are safe to use. Most electrical safety defects can be found by visual examination, but some types of defect can only be found by testing. It is essential to understand that visual examination is a key part of the process because some types of electrical safety defect can’t be detected by testing alone. Our service tests all portable items that plug in, such as kettles, computers and lamps; these are items that can get damaged and lead to potential electric shock. During PAT testing, we often find a range of issues including damaged casing and live conductors exposed, no earth connection to metal appliance where this could become live without knowing, and cables damaged to the point that the bare wire is exposed. If these issues go without remedy, there is a risk to life, even though not intentional. PAT testing is important to highlight the risks and get equipment made safe.
