What dose this mean. We always make it work regardless of cost we continue until its right / working. This is paramount with this sort of technology you can get a solar system for example & generally it will work. However there are heaps of things that will make it work badly. Not so much what panels & what inverter but how its wired Partial shade with no optimization.  Poor string design.  We installed an extra inverter on a job with multiple facets a few months ago because it needed its own string or it wouldn't work well, even with optimization. We did this for free.  We know all these solutions because we have been doing this for 15 years. When there is a problem we will get a replacement from the manufacturer or come & deal with the problem. Your not left filling out forms & getting frustrated

Heating ASHP or air conditioning 
We are Fgas registered contractors & can install ASHP or air conditioning both use a refrigerant commonly know as a gas. These systems are very efficient like 400% this means one kwh in 4 kwh of heat out very good. However on its own it will reduce your carbon emissions & it will keep you warm & do all your hot water needs same as a gas boiler. Ruining cost will be similar to gas as cost of one kwh from a gas boiler is about 8 to 10 pence cost of one kwh of electricity is about 25 to 30 pence so divide the cost of electricity by 4 & you get 7.5 pence similar to gas. if the efficiency drops down to 3 then the same as gas. When you look at a year the they work out about the same cost to run. That said there is a game changer when you add batteries. 

Batteries

We have been installing battery's to store the solar generation great. Now there is a big shift to force charging during the winter months when there is less solar. This is possible because of low night tariffs. For example you charge at 7 p then run your heat pump that gets an efficiency of say 400% this then makes each kwh of heat a cost of less than 2 p. Even if you don't have a heat pump its over 60% cheaper & if you have enough storage you can run this all day at this rate . This means Battery power is very important to reduce your costs.

Lighting & General Power. Efficiency

With new led lighting this can reduce your consumption for lighting by 90% & this can be as simple as changing a lamp. Then there is your oven people are using small ovens aka air fryers. TVs have evolved to be led.  There are some simple but highly effective ways to significantly reduce your consumption. 

Overall with all

With all these changes you can reduce your bill to zero cut your carbon energy use to zero. in most cases you will still be dependent on grid power i.e. force charging from the grid at night in the winter & exporting solar during the summer. This is not just possible its becoming normal. Payback is reduced & you stand to make a decent return on the investment much more than any bank is offering like 10% or more & your money back. Increase the value of your home, Its a fantastic investment.

"A couple of years ago ECO installed my solar panels and battery. Good price and install, no issues since and expected to recover the cost within around 6.5 years. Got some quotes for an ASHP to replace my condemned combi boiler. They provided two quotes, one which matched the quote from Octopus but with all of the issues from the Octopus quote/heat loss survey resolved, and one with greater efficiency. I went with the more efficient quote along with some extra bits. Very happy I did and equally happy with the install. My total energy bill for the first month of operation was around two thirds that of when I had the gas combi boiler!

Highly recommended if you want a solar and/or ASHP installation aimed at long term efficiency rather just a possibly cheaper "tickbox" install."
